Bales is now offering a new 10 day ‘Glimpse of Kerala’ adventure, which features the chance to stay in a charming restored planter’s bungalow on India’s Munnar Tea Plantation. This new accommodation option allows you to experience the irresistibly restful and serene atmosphere of the tea plantations. There are two or three-bedroom original estate bungalows to choose from spread out amongst the rolling hills and lush meadows. Each fully equipped property dates back to the turn of the 20th century and has been carefully renovated and furnished with art deco pieces, stuffed sofas, lace curtains, waxed wooden floors and English fireplaces, thus recreating the authentic atmosphere of a colonial plantation home. Activities such as plantation tours, golf and wildlife walks can also be organised.
The 10-day adventure also features a chance to experience the colonial elegance and rich cultural mix of Kochi, formerly Cochin, and the dream beaches and warm waters of the Arabian Sea at Mararikulam. The trip costs from £1,695 per person in March/April 2010, based on two sharing. The price includes flights, transfers by private car and driver, accommodation, some meals and private sightseeing.
